Lloyd E. Blackwelder, 86, of Limon, Colorado passed away peacefully on Monday, November 08, 2010 at the Eben Ezer Care Center on Brush, Colorado. Lloyd Eugene Blackwelder was born in Satanta, Kansas on February 27, 1924 to George and Ella (Swinson) Blackwelder. He was the youngest of 4 children. His family farmed until their move to Florence, Colorado when Lloyd was in grade school. He met Leona Weber while working in the Sheridan Lake area and they were married on January 16, 1945. In the fall of 1947 they moved north of Limon where they settled and raised their family. Lloyd’s great joys in life were family and farming. To this marriage were born 9 children- 7 boys and twin girls. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active participant in all the 4-H programs and school activities his children were associated with. He is preceded in death by a son, Stanley, his parents, 2 sisters; Effie Decker, Florence Blackwelder and one brother; Cecil Blackwelder. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Leona, children-John (Geri) Blackwelder, Doug (Rhonda) Blackwelder, Greg (Kerri) Blackwelder, Rod (Ruth) Blackwelder, Jay (Gretchen) Blackwelder, Julie (Mark) LoSasso, Joan (Mike) Blossom, Chuck Blackwelder, 19 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren.
