Loretta Dischner

Yuma, Colorado resident and former Stratton, Colorado resident, Loretta Agnes Dischner passed away on July 5, 2007 at the Yuma Life Care Center in Yuma, Colorado. She was 85 years old. Loretta was born on March 31, 1922 in Pilsen, Kansas to Mike and Agnes (Newirth) Vinduska. She was one of three children. Loretta attended school in a one room schoolhouse in Pilsen, KS up through the eighth grade. On August 19, 1947, Loretta married Myron Leo Dischner at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton. To this union four children were born; Joyce, Mark, Mary, John. Loretta worked as a homemaker for a good part of her life. She worked as a clerk at Gambles, and also worked at Dischner’s Grocery Store for twenty years. She was also a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society and the American Legion Auxiliary in Stratton. While living in Yuma she frequently attended St. John’s Catholic Church Services at the nursing home. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Myron, one son Mark, one brother Tom, one sister Betty Schawe and a son-in-law Paul Stockwell. She is survived by one son John and his wife Diana of Yuma, Colorado, and two daughters Joyce Stockwell of Ft. Pierce Florida and Mary Dischner of Canon City, Colorado. She is also survived by four grandchildren, one great grandchild, one step grandchild and three step great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Dischner were held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton with Fr. Ernie Bond and Fr. Rick Scott officiating. Burial followed in the Calvary Cemetery in Stratton. Visitation was held on Monday, July 09, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Church with a Parish Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made in Loretta’s name to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at the First National Bank in Stratton.
