Lyndell Salmans

View Video Tribute Lyndell Lee Salmans was born in the family home north of Vona on September 9, 1947. He was the youngest of 2 sons born to Gwendolyn “Riley� and Herschel Salmans. Lyndell attended school and graduated from Vona Public School in 1965. He lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. He attended National Electronics School of trade in Denver, Colorado. On November 1, 1966 he and Janice Wolkensdorfer were married in the St. Charles Church, Stratton, Colorado. Their married life began on a farm in Canyon City. After the death of his father in 1969, Lyndell and his wife returned to the family farm north of Vona. There they adopted a son, James Jay and two children were born, Tronette Lee and Herschell Harold. Then he completed a course in farm and ranch management at Morgan Community College. He served on the Vona Public School Board for 6 years and was involved in the consolidation of the Hi-Plains School District. He was a member of the St. Charles Parish. Among his many “jobs� were farmer, rancher, construction worker, truck driver and Papa to the grandkids. Lyndell also enjoyed hunting and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary. He leaves to celebrate his life, son James Jay Salmans and wife Tonia of Burlington, daughter Tronette Lee Banks and husband Raymond of Vona, son Herschell Harold and wife Nicole of Wray, Colorado. Grandchildren, Dorian Raymond, Zayd Lyndell, Cody Lee Banks, Landon Lee, Larissa Leann Salmans, many nieces and nephews, friends and relatives too numerous to mention. Please remember Lyndell in your prayers. Funeral services for Mr. Salmans were held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Ernest Bond officiating. Burial followed in the Vona Cemetery, Vona, Colorado. Visitation was held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Love Funeral Home, Burlington, Colorado. Memorials may be made in Lyndell’s name to the Stratton Public Library and may be left at the First National Bank, Stratton, Colorado.
