Margaret Pinkerton

Burlington, Colorado resident Margaret Eileen Pinkerton, age 82, died Monday, March 13, 2006 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. Margaret was born on February 28, 1924 in Emerson, Nebraska to Catherine (McTaggert) and Arthur Daniel Shreve. Margaret served her country in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945 with a rank of Seaman First Class. She worked as a waitress for many years California. On August 20, 1975 she was united in marriage to James Pinkerton in Burbank, California. Margaret and Jim moved from Windsor, Colorado to Burlington in 2002. Preceding Margaret in death were her parents, her brother Howard Shreve and one son Larry. Surviving family members include her husband Jim of their home in Burlington, a son Daniel Annis of Colorado Springs, CO. Also surviving are two brothers LeRoy Shreve and Ellis Shreve both of Kingman, AZ and a sister Lois Tomlinson and her husband Richard of Kingman, AZ. Ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral mass for Margaret was held Friday March 17, 2006 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Burlington, CO with Reverend Ernest Bond, as celebrant. Music was provided by St. Catherine’s Choir, Barb Rueb and accompanied by Paulette Ohnmacht. Military Honors were presented by the United States Navy from Denver, Colorado. Burial was in the Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO. Memorial may be made in Margaret’s name to the American Cancer Society and may be sent or left at the First National Bank in Burlington.
