Mildred "Millie" Menke

Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident Mildred “Millie” U. Menke passed at her home in Stratton on November 30, 2011. She was 78 years old. Millie was born on April 29, 1933 in Antonino, Kansas to Jacob and Ludwina (Befort) Urban. She was one of seven children. Millie and her family moved to Stratton in 1948, and lived south of town. In 1952, Millie married Alvin Herman Menke at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in Colorado Springs. After their marriage, Millie and Alvin moved to town, and to this union, one son Roger was born in March of 1954. Alvin died in 1979, and for a short time, Millie went to live with her son Roger and his family before returning to Stratton. Millie worked as a waitress for over 40 years at various restaurants in Stratton. She was also a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alvin, her son Roger, and two brothers Cecil and Marvis Urban. She is survived by four grandchildren, Nicki Lueck of Stratton and her children Dylan, Tori, Tycie, Mitch Menke and his wife Chrystal of Stratton and their son Bryce, Brian Menke of Denver, and Grant Martin and his wife Carlyn of Burlington and their daughter Savannah. She is also survived by two brothers Herman Urban and his wife Betty of Denver, Colorado and Jim Urban and his wife Bonny of Loveland, Colorado, two sisters Maxine Erbert and her husband John of Englewood, Colorado and Ruby Mauer and her husband Charley of Salina, Kansas.
