Nellie Rhodella Chambers age 89 of Hugo passed away on May 17, 2008 in Burlington, Colorado. She was born February 10, 1919 in Harrison County Iowa to parents James and Eva (Evans) Wimer. She attended country schools and graduated from Pisgah High school in 1936. She attended Teachers College and taught country and small town schools several years. On January 19, 1946 she married Roy Chambers. They farmed in western Iowa until they moved to Hugo, Colorado in 1960. She helped with school activities and church school, clerked at Kayâs Korner store and had a daycare home for pre-school children. She enjoyed plants and garden work.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her parents, 3 sisters, 3 brothers and an infant daughter. She is survived by her daughter Margaret (Jerry) Wolf of Burlington, Colorado, son Royce (Connie) Chambers of Sterling, Colorado, granddaughter Rhonda (George) Hernandez and their children Makeya, Alexia, Trista, and Kyra of Crook, Colorado, grandson Michael (Jessica) Wolf and their children Ethan, Emily and Ella of Kanorado, Kansas, 1 sister Luella (Albert) Stewart of Council Bluffs, Iowa and also many nieces, nephews and friends. She was a member of Hugo United Methodist Church.
