Nita Osborn

Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident Juanita “Nita� Jeraldine Osborn died August 5, 2009 at the Cheyenne Manor in Cheyenne Wells. She was 90 years old. Nita was born on November 8, 1918 in Haigler, Nebraska to Timothy and Lena (Uhren) Adams. She was one of five children. Nita attended school up through the tenth grade. In 1936, Nita married Hans Franklin Thompson. To this union five children were born. That marriage later ended, and in 1954, she married George Osborn. To this union one child was born. She loved to read romance novels and watch the Soap Operas. Her favorite TV show was Wheel of Fortune and she watched it every night. Her favorite hobbies were embroidering pillow cases and scarves. She also loved painting ceramic figures and giving them to her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, two sons Gary Osborn and Tim Thompson and one daughter Joeanna Tonsing. She is survived by three daughters, Polly Johnson of Bethune, Colorado Karen McCartney and her husband Jack of Lakewood, Colorado and Sandra Hamann of New Buffalo, Michigan; twenty one grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Crystal Bowman and her husband Harold of Wray, Colorado. Funeral services for Nita were held on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Burlington United Methodist Church with Reverend Eric Parker officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington. Visitation was held on Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington. Memorials may be made in Nita’s name to the Cheyenne Manor and may be left at or sent to the Bank of the West in Burlington.
