Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident, Norma J. Shutte passed away peacefully at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Colorado with her daughters by her side on Sunday, January 14, 2018. She was 84 years of age.
Norma was born on November 23, 1933 to Ed and Frances Ardelta (Dent) Webb in Chanute, Kansas. She was oldest of three children born to this union.
Norma attended school in Thayer, Kansas thru the 8th grade.
She met and later married Wilford Lawrence Shutte on February 27, 1949 in Neodesha, Kansas. Wilford and Norma were blessed with five children; Dessa Jewell, Linda Kay, Della Marie, Larry Eugene and Louise Ann.
She had a few different jobs over the years working for Safeway as a curtesy clerk and checker, Coit Drapery Cleaning before moving to Stratton, Colorado. Norma worked for the Stratton Equity Coop as a retail clerk from Dec. 5, 1988 until she retired on Feb. 20, 1998. Norma then worked for the East Central Council of Government - Outback Bus and served the residents of Region V with the public transit until Dec. 18, 2007.
Spending time with family was a time of great enjoyment. Norma enjoyed going fishing, reading, knitting, taking road trips, spending time with her family and her best little buddy Friskie were her favorite past times. Norma also collected Santa Claus ornaments and figurines and believed she had over 150 all being different. When she retired from East Central Council of Government she liked to drive around the town of Stratton and see what was happening for the day.
She was a loving mom, grandma, great grandma and sister who will be greatly missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilford, her daughters Louise and Dessa, her son Larry and her grandson Eric.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Della (Sam) Calhoon of Vona, Colorado, Linda Rediess of Thornton, Colorado, daughter-in-law Rhonda Shutte of Stratton, Colorado, her sister Kay of Aiken, South Carolina, her brother Rick of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, her grandchildren; Tammy (Terry) Huffman of Thornton, Colorado, Tim (Angie) Einspahr of Thornton, Colorado, Lee (Angela) Einspahr of Bethune, Colorado, Luke ( Marci) Jantz of Kiowa, Colorado, Alan (Shawna) Calhoon of Bethune, Colorado, Deidra Shutte of Stratton, Colorado, Kyle Shutte of Stratton, Colorado, Jessica (Brandon) Murray of Akron, Colorado, and Mitchell Shutte of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving her are her great grandchildren; Chad, Sabrina, Zach, Tyler, Dillon, Brandi, Morgan, Renae and Laney.
