Paul Mellott

Paul Ray Mellott age 70 of Hugo, Colorado passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at his home in Hugo. Paul was born April 20, 1941 in Flagler, Colorado the son of Clarence Melvin Mellott and Lois Viola Luttrell. Paul graduated from Hugo High School in 1959 and attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Paul proudly served in the United States Army from 1963-1969 earning the rank of E-4. He was assigned to Company A, 720th Military Battalion in Fort Hood, Texas as a military policeman. In 1968 Paul was married to Beverley Elliott. They later divorced. To this union they shared three children; Paul, Sherri and Kris. Paul wore many hats during his life. He was an over the road truck driver for many years as well as serving his community as a Lincoln County Commissioner. Paul owned and operated Kay’s Grocery Store in Hugo for seven years. Paul’s passion was farming and ranching. He was always a lifelong rancher and farmer and he worked for Parker Agriculture for several years. Paul’s spirit will be dearly missed by his family and friends that he loved so much. Paul will live on in their hearts forever… Paul is survived by two daughters, Sherri Sargent (Larry) of Bennett, Colorado and Kris McGushin (Mark) of Sacramento, California; one son, Paul Ward Mellott (Erin) of Limon, Colorado; five grandchildren, Brandon, Karson, Keagan, Kinlee Mellott and Victor Sargent; one niece, Julie Keirnes; and three nephews, Gary, Scott and Thad Mellott. Mr. Mellott was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Melvin Mellott.
