Peggy L. Lukas

Peggy Lou Lukas, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister and friend, departed this life on November 1, 2024, in Hugo, Colorado, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.

Born on September 7, 1949, in Delta, Colorado, Peggy was the beloved daughter of Harvey and Lillian Barnes. Her formative years were spent on the picturesque western slope of Colorado, where she graduated from Olathe School. It was here that she cultivated her enduring passions and indomitable spirit.

Throughout her life, Peggy's unconditional love for her four children shone brightly. A dedicated homemaker, she skillfully balanced her responsibilities while running a successful housecleaning business for many years, all the while infusing her life with joy and creativity. An extraordinary baker, Peggy garnered numerous blue ribbons at county fairs, her delectable pies a testament to her skill and passion for baking. Her culinary delights were matched only by her green thumb; she relished tending to her gardens during the spring and summer, a true gardening enthusiast who found solace and joy in nurturing the earth.

In addition to her love for nature, Peggy was an avid reader, often losing herself in the pages of a captivating book, her imagination soaring alongside the characters she encountered.

Peggy is survived by her adoring children: Tommy Lukas, Dan (Alex) Lukas, and Amanda Watkins, as well as her beloved grandchildren: Dylan Watkins, Tyler Watkins, Ashlee Willis, Ethan Schraven, and Kyra Lukas. She also celebrated the joy of being a great-grandmother to 11 great-grandchildren. Peggy's legacy lives on through her siblings, Doug (Pat) Barnes, Margie (Kevin) Miller, Rodney Barnes, and Barbara (Jerry) Eurich, who will forever cherish the memories they created together.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Thomas Lukas; her brother, Jack Barnes; and her baby boy, Bradley Lukas. Peggy's generous spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we remember her life, we celebrate the countless moments of joy and love she shared with her family and friends, an enduring beacon of light in our lives.
