Raymond W. Parmer

June 6, 1934 — June 14, 2021

Ray was born on June 6, 1934 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jun 14, 2021. He was born on the family farm north of Burlington, Colorado, during a horrible dust storm. During his birth, one woman was busy sweeping up the dirt while another kept damp towels over the doors and windows. His parents were Lillian J. Levin Parmer and Robert Charles Parmer. Ray accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age. He attended a one room school at Happy Hollow. On New Year’s Eve, 1952, Ray married the love of his life, Janet E. Bowman. To this union four boys were born, Douglas (Darcy) of Fountain, Colorado, Craig (Teri) of Limon, Colorado, Curtis (Charmaine) of Johnstown, Colorado and Dana (Lois) of Merino, Colorado. Ray’s early years were spent on the family farm. In 1953, Ray and Janet moved to Limon, Colorado and Ray helped run the family business, The Frontier Truck Stop and Café. Later on Ray was a truck driver. While working for Pebble Haulers, Inc., he was honored with the Employee of the year and won the truck rodeo. He especially enjoyed cars and pickups, raising and showing horses and racing cars at the speedway in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his brother Richard. Ray also loved the outdoors. He spent countless hours with his boys, in the mountains of Colorado, before and during hunting season. Ray loved and was very proud of each and every one of his grandchildren, Jason (Jaclyn ) Parmer, Jennifer (Shay) Trembly, Amy Deaver, Amanda (Drew) Spielmann, Eric (Michelle) Davenport, Heather (Michael) Martinez and Liz Frey. Ray is survived by his wife, Janet, a brother, Richard Parmer of Hugo, Colorado, four sons, seven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Sykes and Joan McElwain.
