Roberta “Robbie” Kay Wyckoff, age 81, passed away on May 16, 2024, in Denver,
Colorado, after a two-year fight with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her family and
loved ones in the days preceding her death, including her husband, siblings, children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and more.
Born September 23, 1942, to parents Robert and Katie Wigham, Roberta burst into the
world as the eldest of four siblings, leading by example for Nancy, Tom, and Bill Wigham.
Sterling was home for Robbie’s high school career where she played saxophone in the school
concert band and beyond.
Sterling is also where Robbie met Reggie, her husband of nearly 63 years. The two were
married in 1961 and had 3 children: Leigh, Amy, and Josh, between 1962 and 1969. Eight
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren have since stemmed from their union, and how lucky
we are to have their example.
Robbie led an extraordinary life as an educator for over 50 years. From running a daycare
and preschool to teaching online through CDLS, Robbie left her mark on the minds of young
math learners across the state.
After retiring from the classroom, Robbie and Reggie sought out warmer pastures and
found themselves snowbirding in Texas and Arizona. Robbie could frequently be found on a golf
course for tee time, under an awning for happy hour, or at a card table for a riotous game of
Social Security with friends. She was the most beautiful social butterfly.
In addition to her love of family, Robbie had a deeply personal connection to her Savior
and found great comfort in her devotion to the Lord. On the 14th of May, only two days before
she passed, Robbie found it imperative for me to read one of her favorite scriptures to anyone
that entered her hospital room: Galatians 5: 22-23 We can all aspire to embody these traits as
diligently and gracefully as Robbie did.
Donations can be made in Robbie’s name to the Special Olympics of Colorado.
