Robert Irvil Lippitt was born March 14, 1924 in Fleming CO to Irvil Lippitt and Freida Ard. He had two sisters, Lura and Dorothy.
He grew up on a dry land farm and had to become the man of the house when he lost his father at the age of 13. He worked on the farm until entering the Marines in 1943, serving in WWII in the south pacific for 3 years. Upon returning from the war he went to work for BF Goodrich and that is when he met and married Joan Kadlecek, his wife of 72 years in Oct 1946 in Sterling, CO. Bob held many jobs and lived many places between 1946 and 1965. Many of which included sheep, cow and cattle ranching, potato and wheat farming, brick laying and carpenter work. Bob went to government sponsored college for agriculture. In 1955 they moved to Byers, CO and Bob ran the elevator for 7 years. In 1965 Bob bought his own excavation equipment and proceed to put in many of the water and sewer lines around the community for 15 years. Bob could always recall which house or street he put in a water or sewer line in if you were to ask him. In 1974 they bought Lippitt Hardware and he continued to do plumbing repairs around the community while also working in the hardware. They sold the store between 1980-1986 during which he went to work hauling water in the oil field. In 1986 they got the hardware store back and continued to run and work in it, while still doing plumbing outside of the store until his retirement in 2014.
Bob is survived by his wife Joan, children Roberta (Douglas) Thomas, Douglas Lippitt, Clifford (Dana) Lippitt, Charles Lippitt, Rebecca (William) Gunter and Jody (Terry) Smith. Twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parent Irvil and Freida Lippitt, sister Lura, son Donald Lippitt and granddaughter Brittany Lippitt.
