Roger Jackson

Roger Gene Jackson, age 76, of Arriba passed away August 17, 2008 at his home in Arriba. Roger was born February 27, 1932 in La Plata, MO to Bert and Edna (Young) Jackson. Roger graduated high school from Denver in 1950 and then attended UNC majoring in music and vocals. He also attended Seminary in Chicago. Roger moved to Arriba from Denver in 1980. While living in Arriba he was a member of the First Congregational Church were he played the piano and organ. Roger enjoyed music and was always willing to play and sing for weddings and funerals. He also shared his musical abilities many times as he volunteered at local care homes. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Roy Jackson, two sisters Helen Nuhn, and Hazel Easley. Roger is survived by a brother Dean and wife Naomi Jackson of North Kansas City, MO, and one sister Iris Chaney of La Plata, MO. Also surviving are numerous nieces, and nephews. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Arriba Congregational Church with Pastor Bob Strauch, officiating.
