Roy Richard Horn, age 89 of Limon, Colorado passed away February 13, 2007 in Denver, Colorado.
Roy was born July 31, 1917 in Ft. Stockton, Texas to Richard J. and Pink (Taylor) Horn. Roy graduated from College High in Greeley Colorado in 1934 and then attended Greeleyâs Teachers College for 2 years receiving his teaching degree. He then taught in a one room school house for several years in the Greeley area.
In October of 1942 Roy entered the United States Air Force. This began a career in service as a navigator serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Following 27 years of service he retired as a Colonel in 1970.
On December 19, 1944 Roy married Virginia Wilson in Boca Raton, Florida. To this union two children were born.
Roy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Limon, the Hub City Seniors, Limon Heritage Society, American Legion, Retired Officers Association, and of the 379 Group (H) from World War II. Roy loved woodworking, fishing, golf, and working crossword puzzles.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, a son Richard, one sister Ruth Hoff, and one brother Robert.
Roy is survived by his wife Virginia Horn of Limon, one daughter Karen and her husband Bill Wrench of Lubbock, Texas. Two brothers Alton and wife Ella Horn of Belleview, Washington, and Arlen and wife Darlene Horn of Greeley, Colorado. One sister Byrdie and husband Mervin Niles of Hudson, Colorado. Two grandsons Rick Wrench of Denver, Colorado and Jason Wrench of Wheeling, West Virginia.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Limon, Colorado with Reverends Frank and Linda Hoover officiating.
Private burial with military honors will be held at a later date at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
