Scott Travis Franklin, 50, of Strasburg, CO, passed away September 24, 2022 following his second brave battle with cancer. Scott was born on April 15, 1972 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Myer J. Franklin Jr. and Cheryl A. Hughes.
Scott was a 1990 graduate of Bennett High School, where he met his lifelong love Allisa Unrein at age 15, and they married on August 31, 1991. Scott and Allisa made their home in Strasburg for more than 20 years, raising their children Katie, T.J., and Alaina. They are a close-knit family who delight in spending time together even as all three children reached adulthood. Scott was immeasurably proud of the outstanding people they became. His love and example to live by was a guiding influence for each of them.
Scott was the embodiment of a loving and dedicated family man. Family vacations and quality time were a priority to him, as well as countless weekends traveling to sporting and school events. He was a constant presence cheering on his kids, supporting their hobbies, interests and career paths. In his free time, Scott never missed watching the Denver Broncos play. He volunteered as a football coach for Hemphill Middle School in Strasburg, as well as coaching baseball for the Eastern Colorado Cobras and softball for the Eastern Colorado Lady Warriors.
Scott worked for Viking SupplyNet for 28 years as a salesman of fire protection equipment. He was highly regarded for his loyalty, expertise, and natural ease connecting with people, though Scott was modest about his accomplishments. He was a man of few words, but he had a direct, honest manner and quiet sense of humor that made a positive impact in all his surroundings. The needs of his loved ones were always Scott’s first concern.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Allisa; a daughter Katie of Bennett and wife Alicia; a son Travis (T.J.) of Strasburg and wife Shay; a daughter Alaina of Strasburg; his mother Cheryl Hughes Delinger and brother Todd Franklin of Campo, CA; father-in-law Elmer Unrein of Bennett; and brothers-in-law Neil and Dean Unrein of Gorham, KS. Scott is also survived by four grandchildren he adored: Jaxson, Kynzlee, Blakely, Jaylie, and a second grandson due to arrive in October.
Scott was a dear uncle to his nephews and nieces; and also remembered by close friends Kerri Cartaglia, Duane & Donna Cartaglia, Rick & Shaunna Allyn, Mark & Rhonda Mehling, Jeremy & Kayla Parks, who were also family to the Franklins; among others too many to name. Scott’s wife and children are forever grateful for the love and support of these friends throughout the years and especially in recent months.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents Floyd and Erla Hughes, his mother-in-law Rose Unrein and brother-in-law Eric Unrein.
