Stephana Hertneky

Stephana Hertneky, age 98, of Calhan, Colorado passed away April 9, 2010 at her home in Calhan. Stephana was born May 4, 1911 in Calhan to parents Michael and Mary (Yeuchak) Hlatki. She was the youngest of eight children born to this union. The family made their home in Calhan where Stephana attended school, graduating from Calhan High School in 1929. On June 12, 1932, Stephana married Edward Hertneky in Calhan. The couple was blessed with two children, Shirley and Errol, and made their home on a ranch outside of Calhan. Stephana was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and also the Prairie Home Extension Club. She will be remembered as an artist and a seamstress, and enjoyed flowers, gardening and working alongside her husband on the farm and ranch. Stephana is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in law Otto, sisters; Mary, Elizabeth, Anna, and Helen, and brothers; John, Mike and Joseph. She is survived by her children Shirley Lehrbach of Hatboro, PA and Errol (Bette) Hertneky of Calhan, CO; grandchildren, Travis (Cara) Hertneky of Greeley, CO, Dana Pfannenstiel of Wichita, KS, Kay Lehrbach of Hatboro, PA, and Jay (Gail) Lehrbach of Kustown, PA; as well as 2 great grandchildren, Taylor and Trent Pfannenstiel.
