Vincent Wimmer

Vincent Louis Wimmer, 86, of Flagler, CO passed away at home with his loving family at his side. Vincent was born on May 11, 1921 to John and Amelia (Winter) Wimmer one of ten children. He grew up and attended school through the 9th grade in Butler, PA. Vincent was a Navy Seaman 1st Class during World War II entering active duty on May 31, 1944 and was discharged on January 23, 1946. Vincent married Mary Ann Luebbers on June 14, 1943 in Marienthal, KS and the couple was blessed with two children. Vincent was of the Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Flagler, CO. He loved the game of baseball. He was very talented in the area of woodworking and refurbishing antique furniture. Vincent loved his family very much and spending time with his grandchildren fishing and hunting at Blue Mesa Reservoir and Kenny Lake. He also enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb for growing a spectacular garden for his family every year. Vincent also spent much of his free time playing cards with family and friends. Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Alfred, Paul, Ed and Alvin, sisters; Theresa, Adel and Sister Pat, also preceding Vincent are two grandsons. Vincent is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary Ann Wimmer of Flagler, CO, son Darrel Wimmer and his wife Marie of Yuma, CO and daughter Lynda Jones and husband Don of Flagler, CO. He is also survived by his sister Jean Eder of Marinatha, KS and one brother Jerome Wimmer; thirteen grandchildren and twenty – five great grandchildren, and numerous friends and relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in Flagler, CO at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rosary recited on Monday, August 27, 2007 7:30 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
