William Sayre (Nichols) or Dollar Bill as he was known, passed away on January 10, 2023, doing what he enjoyed, listening to rock music, and working on the garbage truck. Bill was 58 years old.
He leaves behind brothers Brian Wynkoop, Brad Wynkoop (Susan) and his nieces and nephews. He will be going home to join his mother Suzie, father Jimmy and his sister Breneda.
Bill was born in Ohio on February 27, 1964, to Suzie Wynkoop (Smith) and Thomas Nichols. Suzie met Jimmy Wynkoop in Columbus, Ohio, and they married in 1977, and raised four children together. Bill became a big brother to Brian, Brad and Breneda Wynkoop. He did live in Dinosaur, Colorado, and attended Rangely High School. After high school he moved around and eventually settled in Byers, Colorado, with the rest of the family. He made sure that he helped with his younger siblings and even after the passing of his parents, he was going to make sure Brian had a delicious meal.
Bill was a loyal and honest employee. He was employed at Flint Engineering and Construction, Byers Sinclair and he went to work for Swims Disposal in July 2008 until his passing. Bill enjoyed his customers but especially loved the other employees he had formed friendships with. He was family, and there was not anything Bill would not do for them, or they would not do for him.
Bill was well known for his love of the Denver Broncos and watching Ohio State Buckeyes, any sport for that matter. He loved his music, and they will miss him at the Byers General Store and Byers Sinclair. He did not drive but would walk several times a day to these locations for his ice and Pepsi. He never left his home without his beloved dogs; they were his world and he loved them very much.
