William E. Shields

William (Bill) E. Shields died on July 11 in Bennett, Colorado. Bill was born March 31, 1944 in Mobile, Alabama to Elton and Lena Shields.

Bill was raised in New Jersey.  After spending 2 years in the US Army, including a year served in Vietnam, he attended the Teterboro School of Aeronautics and graduated as a jet mechanic.  He worked for United Airlines at LaGuardia Airport for years and California for a short while before transferring to Denver.  He continued to work for United Airlines before retiring after 35 years.

Bill was well known for his ability to fix anything, his way.  He especially enjoyed helping friends and family, and was quick to lend a hand to anyone.  Bill enjoyed meeting with fellow United retirees and his group of friends at McDonalds.

Bill will be missed by his four sisters, Sue, Annette, Nancy and Joan, two brothers, Elton and Frank, and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and brother John.

Visitation will be held August 11th, 9:30AM to 10:30AM, at Journey Church in Strasburg, Colorado.

Graveside services will follow at 11:00 at Mount View Cemetery in Bennett, Colorado.
