Zelpha Forbes

Zelpha Mae Forbes, 97, of Limon, Colorado passed away on February 17, 2013 at the Carla’s Cluster Care Northeast Campus in Limon. Zelpha was born on August 2, 1915 in Eastern Pratt County Kansas to Thomas L. and Zella A. (Bucklin) Sitton. She graduated from Pratt High School in 1934 then attended beauty school in Wichita, Kansas for one year. Zelpha worked in Pratt as a beautician. Zelpha married Guy Harry Forbes on April 6, 1934 in St. John, Kansas. In 1947 the Forbes’ moved to Nevada, Missouri where they farmed for three years. In 1950 the couple moved to Limon and famed nine miles southwest of town. In August 1971, they sold their farm, retired and moved to town. Zelpha enjoyed gardening, baking and canning. She loved to travel going to Padre Island, Texas several times a year and spending time at the cabin in Granite, Colorado. Zelpha loved playing bridge with friends. Zelpha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Phyllis and Lois and niece Barbara Matthews and great nephew Troy Quigley. She is survived by her brother Stacy (Bertha) Sitton of Genoa, Colorado along with her many nieces and nephews; Mark (Annalisa) Conklin of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Linda (Dennis) Quigley of Bassett, Nebraska, Lana (Aaron) Carlson of Carbondale, Colorado, Steve (Marcia) Sitton of Goodland, Kansas, Dean (Lucy) Sitton of Lebanon, Missouri and Diane (Gary) Chandler of Limon, Colorado. Zelpha is also survived by extended family, cousins, great nieces and nephews.
